The Dazzle of Greener Cities

By Coby Walters

The oxygen cycle is something we learn about in elementary school, high school and sometimes on college, and yet it is so natural and common, one would think we'd understand it without explanation. If one wanted to define it, it would briefly look like this: oxygen cycle is circulation of oxygen in its many forms in the nature. Among uncombined elements in the atmosphere, oxygen comes after nitrogen in its abundance. Animals and plants use it for respiration, and it returns to water and air as carbon dioxide.

Modern times bring many good things, but even the most progressive and pro modern people will have to agree that they also bring some not so magnificent things. One of them is burning of fossil fuels, which deeply affect the oxygen circle. Thanks to their burning the level of natural vegetation is decreased, both in the seas and on land, and this means that the process of photosynthesis is achieved more difficult. The situation is not critical yet, but thinking about the air we breathe would be a recommendable advice for many.

Lawn owners usually take care of their lawns themselves, but nowadays there are way too many busy people to have time to take care of that. It is also possible that people physically cannot take care of the exterior of their houses, and this is when they should look up and hire a company that will do it for you. Online directories are extensive, and all you need to do is to spend some time surfing the web.

If you have problems with erosion, you can try to solve them yourself, but you can also hire a company to do it for you. If erosion hasn't gone too far, it's better to do it yourself, because you'll save up some money. Erosion can be stopped by planting trees, and experts say that one of the trees suitable for the task is Basswood. It grows fast (3 ft per year) and it needs moist, fertile soil. Keep in mind that these trees are big, so plant them on a suitable spot.

If you have a lawn and want to keep it neat and tidy, here are a few tips: keep the grass short. There are many reasons for this, and apart from aesthetics, it will stop broad leaved weeds from growing. When shortening grass, don't do it more than 1/3 of the length per day. Make sure that when clipping the grass you remove dead grass. Make sure you don't overwater the lawn, because grass will become lazy and the structure of the roots will be shallow. Let your grass lengthen in various conditions. This will make it stronger when cold weather comes.

Having a lawn means having certain responsibilities, and one of them is maintaining it. In case you're a fan of details, having only a lawn won't satisfy you, because you'll have a large area of nicely cut grass, period. Lawns can be decorated easily with shrubs or trees, but if you don't want more responsibilities, decorating a lawn with a few benches and nice wooden tables can be a great idea. Having lovely wooden chairs is also great, because you'll be able to enjoy sunny mornings on the lawn while sipping coffee and reading your favorite book.
