Easy Steps When Planting Calla Lilies

Silk calla lilies are considered to be great options for any real flowers in wedding centerpieces, arrangements, and bouquets. Planting calla lilies is sure a good deal since it could produce a lot of blossoms. White, pink, Burgundy, purple, and yellow are the different colors of calla lilies. These flowers are originally came from the swampy regions of Africa.

This flower has long beautiful stem that suits in long vases, and has a funnel-shaped flowers which are very attractive for any bouquets and floral arrangement. Moreover, planting calla lilies could provide you with rich flowers until late summer when all other flowers and plants start to fade out. Light shaded areas are the site for planting callas lilies outdoors. They like the late afternoon shade, mostly during hot-summer.

Keep them hydrated and weeded. In planting calla lilies make sure that the soil is moist and has organic matter in it. Dig 4-6 inches deep to plant the bulbs, and make sure they are 1- inches apart from each other. These flowers could be planted 6-12 inches apart especially when grown in the pots. Fertilize them each month. Calla lilies blooms all throughout the year even though they are known as 'spring bulbs'. Therefore, they can be planted at any time you would like to.

Wires are used in the stems to aid the shapes of these artificial flowers. So, if you want to trim its stems according to your preference, you can do it without having any difficulty. Actually, these flowers would not develop if planted in temperature under 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Just be sure that there's no risk of frost or temperatures under 55 degrees in first 12 weeks after you have planted. In tropical weathers like zones 8 to 10, calla lilies could be left in ground during winter without any trouble, even though some gardeners like better to mulch with straw or bark for the period of the colder months.

Gardeners try to lift the bulbs before the cold months starts. Clean the ground. Expose it to the sunlight's heat for several days to dry the bulb. Store them in location with temperature of 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit. If springtime comes, re-plant it in moist soil. Calla lilies don't need a lot of maintenance, but a little regular care and upholding is needed to turn out to be stunning flowers.
