Taking a Closer Look at the Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet

By Linda Cunningham

The first iPad was received with skepticism; people believed that their laptop computers covered the same bases better. Then people rapidly started to see the true function of the iPad. They became sought out, gross revenues and net profits surged and all of a sudden all of the major computer and cellular companies wanted to get in on the action. Tablets began appearing everywhere. Not surprisingly, Dell wants a piece of the action. The device Dell is placing its hopes on is the Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet. In this article, we will take a closer look at the Streak 7 Tablet and whether or not it is something you should buy.

It's a good device for movies with a similar system to watch movies for ipad. Alas, the plainest minus for this product is Dell itself. Dell is one company that isn't recognized for the quality of the products it makes. Dell likewise has a dubious history of providing customer service. After the warranty on your product runs out, you can expect to be billed for customer service calls to Dell - at least that is what numerous customers have reported. Hence, while this tablet is likely going to be one of the cheaper tablets sold on the market, you should take a moment to think about who you will be paying that money to.

Today, multitasking between different functions is much in demand, and the Android OS version used here, referred to as Froyo, should make it relatively uncomplicated. You will be able to listen to Mp3s, keep your GPS data current, and be given notice of various things through the system's notification service without being pressured to keep any specific program open and running. Acquaintances and business contacts will constantly be able to keep in touch with you on your Dell tablet because it lets you access your email accounts, including Gmail, fairly easily.

Video chat was not part of the first iPad offering, and it's great that it is with this Dell tablet. This tablet, using Qik software and a front-facing panel camera, lets you video chat. The only catch is that the only people you can chat with are people who own a Dell Streak tablet or a compatible device. So video chatting with others who are using other platforms is not guaranteed. A bonus for this tablet is the integrated offering of the On Demand service from Blockbuster. Admittedly, however, Blockbuster's recent run of problems have made us think twice about its value as a recommendation.

Thus yar, there aren't lots of reviews about this particular product though several people are questioning what the point of this product could truly be. The Dell Streak 7 tablet's real use is limited by its not being universal and its resultant inability to communicate with other devices. Still, if you are desperate for a tablet computer and you don budget, the Dell Streak 7 might be a great way to get used to the technology and find out for yourself if tablets truly are for you. Just make sure you know what you are getting before you actually send your money to the company.
