There have been so many people who have hoped to be a singer through auditioning in singing competitions yet have miserably failed. Have you ever dreamed of trying out your luck in a singing contest in town? If you have, you should know what you need to prepare when getting ready for an audition.
There are actually so many things needed to be considered in an audition. These 5 basic things will help you do just fine.
1. Pick an appropriate song for you range. Don't hurry in picking your song and don't pick just any song. It has always been a common mistake for people to pick a song that is not right for them and lose their chance to stardom. You must be able to know your range and then carefully select a song that will give justice to it. It's always helpful to have with you a friend who can give you honest critiques on whether the song fits you or not.
2. Identify the best part of the song and sing that part only. In auditions, judges can give only a limited amount of time per contestant in order to cater to all hopefuls. You need to maximize your chance to stardom within this limited time by showcasing only the best part of your song. The best part contains the heaviest emotions in the song. This usually is found in the chorus if not, in the bridge.
3. Practice at least a week before the audition date. It's a tragic thing to forget the lyrics of your audition piece. This is why you should be able to know your song like the back of your hands. You should be able to sing it without thinking about the lyrics anymore.
4. Don't overdo your outfit. You want the judges to focus on your vocals and your performance not on your crazy look. Remember, it's a singing competition not a fashion show. Dress simply and presentably.
5. You must be early! It should be your goal to be earlier than everybody else and be part of the first 10 - 20 people to audition. You have to understand that judges are exhausted and irritable as hours pass. You want to meet these judges when their mood is still cool and relaxed. Being there early is a must.
